Each year the Illiniois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE®) presents the Addis E. Hull Award to a volunteer whose extensive commitment to providing education and guidance to fellow members of the Illinois bar distinguishes his or her service as exemplary. The award is named in honor of Addis E. Hull, one of IICLE®’s earliest and most fervent volunteers.

William H. Pokorny, Jr. has been the managing partner of Pokorny & Associates, Limited, in Oak Brook, Illinois since 1985. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration. Mr. Pokorny has been a frequent speaker and author for IICLE® courses and handbooks in the area of estate planning since 1976. He was also a member of IICLE®’s technical advisory committee for continuing legal education through Internet access. Mr. Pokorny received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1969 and received his law degree from Loyola University in 1972.  Mr. Pokorny was chosen to receive the Addis E. Hull Award for 2011.

Martindale-Hubbell Highest-Possible AV Rating

The Martindale-Hubbell peer review rankings factor in a number of areas of expertise beyond the highest possible ethical standards in order to assign a rating of qualification for participating attorneys:

  • Legal Knowledge - Lawyer's familiarity with the laws governing his/her specific area of practice(s)
  • Analytical Capabilities - Lawyer's creativity in analyzing legal issues and applying technical knowledge
  • Judgment - Lawyer's demonstration of the salient factors that drive the outcome of a given case or issue.
  • Communication Ability - Lawyer's capability to communicate persuasively and credibly
  • Legal Experience - Lawyer's degree of experience in his/her specific area of practice(s)

Once a lawyer's General Ethical Standards and Legal Ability Ratings are confirmed, his/her ratings are aggregated to create an overall numeric rating for each rated Area of Practice.  An AV® certification mark is a significant rating accomplishment - a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.
